SACHA & PAUL

An Amsterdam duo of Jetty Weels and Paul Guldenaar. In 1970, Jetty participated in the first Jeugd Eurovisie Songfestival and later on she sang in Rockaway Boulevard, American Gypsy and Streetlight. Paul came from the Blue Rhythms and Album and also made solo records under the names Paul King and Paul Ellis; he went to Tennis and later Album.

ROCKAWAY BOULEVARD

A disco act from Amsterdam with a line-up that changed quite a few times. In 1977 it featured American Omar Dupree (v, ex-Cheaters), Kathy Jackson (v, to Love & Devotion), and Kim Haworth (tr, member of Sail), Ton Matthijssen (g) and Paul Bagmeyer (b, ex-Houseband). In 1978: Omar Dupree (v), Carmen Frazer (v) and Maritha Lee (ex-Sweet Smoke, to Fruitcake), live completed with Ton Matthijssen (g, to Dixo Wankers), Paul Bagmeyer (b, to L-Seven and Dixo Wankers), Willem Voorhaar (dr, member of Emily), Jeff Stradling (o, p, s), Lance Burton (s) and Rob van den Bergh (tr, to Mr. Max & New Respect and Lee Roberts & Sweaters). In 1979: Omar Dupree (v) and Jetty Weels (v, ex-Sacha & Paul, to Streetlight). For live performances, they teamed up with American Gypsy. Omar stuck with American Gypsy as a singer. In 1981 the line-up was: Mildred Douglas (v, ex-Hans Dulfer, to Daniel Sahuleka), Udell Anderson (v, ex-Udell), Glen Felter (v, ex-Udell), Patrice Ruddock (v, to Daniel), Denice Wijngaarden (v), Tony Worrell (v, to Daniel), completed with a band consisting of Frank Douglas (g, ex-Solat), Sola Motman (b), Henny Rijders (o, p), Michael Sampson (g), Clark Snijders (dr) and many others.

STAMP 'N GO

This rock group from The Hague with Latin influences existed from 1976 'til 1978. Members: Marc Boon (v, g, ex-Hammer, to Diesel), Lawrence James (v, g, p, ex- and back to Los Alegres), Hans van Maurik (dr, ex-Moeras, to Streetbeats), Ron van Eck (v, b, ex-Supersister, to Too Young) and Bobby Dessauvagie (v, fl, g, ex-Centaur, to Delrose). In 1977, the group was extended with Tony de Queljoe (g, ex-Brainbox, to Delrose).

DELROSE

Delrose from The Hague was a continuation of Stamp 'n Go. This group existed from 1978 'til 1980, but didn't make any records. The line-up contained well-known people: Bob Dessauvagie (v, h, fl, ex-Stamp 'n Go), Henk Libanon (v, perc), Tony de Queljoe (v, g, ex-Stamp 'n Go), Bas Krumperman (g, shortly, to Bruno Basta), Bob van den Bergh (o,p), Elout Smit (dr, ex-American Gypsy, to Streetlight) and on bass in succession: Jan Dankmeyer (ex-Bismarck), Lando Milan (ex-Cashmere) and Paul de Croix (to Streetlight).

STREETLIGHT

Amsterdam funk band, founded in 1980 by Rob Berkhout (v,g, ex-Syrinx), Jetty Weels (v, ex-Sacha & Paul, backed Rockaway Boulevard and American Gypsy), Nick v.d. Bos (o, p), Elout Smit (dr, ex-American Gypsy and Delrose), Paul de Croix (b, ex-Delrose) and George Thé (v,g, ex-George Baker Selection, in 1982 back to Baker).

MAI TAI

Soul/disco formation from Utrecht, 1983. Jetty Weels (ex-Free, Rockaway Boulevard, American Gypsy, Streetlight and Braak), Carolien de Windt (ex-Fruitcake and Precious Wilson) and Mildred Douglas (ex-Hans Dulfer, Fruitcake, Rockaway Boulevard and Daniel Sahuleka). Mai Tai scored one hit in the USA: "Female Intuition" (no.71) and two Top Ten hits in the UK, "History" and "Body and Soul".

TOO YOUNG

Rock group Too Young existed in 1978-79. They didn't make any records, but they did feature a line-up containing some well-known names: Ron van Eck (v, b, ex-Stamp 'n Go), Mark Boon (v, g, ex-Stamp 'n Go, to Meike Touws Tutti Frutti and Diesel, replaced Kees Poulus in 1979, ex-Anrosgrove, Charles Dodson and Whippin' Post, to Label), Wim van Ekeren (o, p, ex-Lemming, to Tutti Frutti) and Hans van
Maurik (dr, ex-Stamp 'n Go, to Streetbeats).

KATHY JACKSON

Ex-singer of Rockaway Boulevard and Love & Devotion. In 1980, she went on to Dixo Wankers.

FRUITCAKE

Amsterdam-based disco/funk group, consisting of Rob Taekema (v, g, s), Ben Baan (o, p), Jan-Paul Driessen (b, brother of Ellert (see Spargo)), Jo-Ann Collins (v), André Louhenapessy (perc) and Mildred Douglas (v, ex-Hans Dulfer's Perikels, to Daniel Sahuleka). After the first single Mildred was replaced by Marita Li-a-chan, ex-Rockaway Boulevard).
