John came from Eindhoven and until 1965 he was accompanied by Cees & Skyliners: Cees Dingen (g), Harry v.d. Akker (b), Toni Wulms (p, replaced Adrie van Riet in 1962) and Jack Bierens (dr). In 1960 the Skyliners were still called the Skyline Quartet. John came into contact with them through a talent-hunt. Without John, Cees & Skyliners made two instrumental singles and one vocal one.
