MUSIC STRINGS

Wout Goudriaan (lead guitar) founded the Music Strings group together with Henk Stoffels (dr) in 1961 in Amsterdam. When Music Strings turned professional in 1966, Wout Goudriaan left the band. Music Strings went on and later changed some members and name into Jackpot.

JACKPOT

Pop group comprised of members from Amsterdam and West-Friesland, founded in 1961 as a dance orchestra originally called Music Strings. Line-up: Henk Kouwenhoven (s), Henny Eskens (v, b, p), Co Stoffels (g), Henk Stoffels (dr, replaced by René Plemp, ex-Astronauts, to John Breughel Four), Cees van de Berge (o, s, tr) and Dick Mulder (b). The group visited Germany many times and gradually changed their style, starting in 1965, more and more towards beat music. In 1966, the Music Strings recorded a single which probably hasn't ever been released. For a long time they also were the regular backup group for Ben Cramer. In 1973, the name was changed to Jackpot. The new line-up was: Henny, Cees, Con de Vries (v, g) and Lex and Kroon (dr). In 1977, after enjoying four years of hits, Lex was replaced by Arnaldo Gallie (dr, ex-Cardinal Point).
