Dirk van der Horst 1946 - 2004
After the Cats, BZN (Band Zonder Naam - band without a name) was the most popular and surely the roughest group from Volendam. The rough part has changed, alas, of late, but their popularity hasn't diminished, rather the opposite is true.
Members in 1968: Cees Tol (g,fl) Thomas Tol (g,p) Jan Tuyp (b) Jan Veerman (v) Jaap Sombroek (dr, in 1968 to Left Side and replaced by Jan Keyzer, ex-Q-Tips).
In the beginning, the Woestenburgs (Gerrit (dr) and Evert (g)) also played in the band. It was formed in 1966 and turned 'pro' in January1969 (before the Cats did). In 1974, Jan Keyzer became the lead singer, and Jack Veerman joined as drummer. In 1976, singer Annie Schilder joined the group (later to be replaced by Carola Smit).

They've scored as many hits as The Rolling Stones over the years and are the No.1 Dutch hitmaker band!
Q-Tips from Volendam existed between 1966 and 1969. They didn't make any records, but they did supply a number of members to well-known Volendam groups: Lydia Bont (v, went to the George Baker Selection), Jan Keijzer (v, to B.Z.N.), Piet Keijzer (v, g, to The Cats), Evert-Jan Reylingh (b) to Alles; the drummer was Nico Runderkamp.

In Germany, the band never really achieved much success. B.Z.N. never reached their Top10 and "Mon Amour" is completely unknown over there. But in the last few years, due to some local radio airplay, they have become quite popular in the Munich area. You can hear them nearly every day on the radio. (Oh Me Oh My, Lady McCorey, etc.)
